Next week, Croisières de France will be advertising on the Paris Metro. The marketing campaign will encompass over 200 posters. Earlier I wrote about how Royal Caribbean was taking to the subway for their latest marketing campaign.

Currently, the Epic is in the English Channel between Southampton, England and Cherbourg, France. Make sure you are tracking her live here. Having been officially handed over from STX France yards to NCL yesterday, she is sailing full speed to Rotterdam to begin her promo tour before heading state side.

Another Norwegian Epic Fire And They are All Arson

French maritime news site, Mer et Marine, is reporting that on June 6th there was a small fire onboard. Families of the workers at STX France were allowed to tour the vessel and see what their relatives had been working on for the past 3 years. This common as a way for the shipyard to show how important they are to the community. The crew were notified of another small fire onboard and decided, as a precaution to evacuate all passengers.

This shipyard has not had much luck during these events. On November 15, 2003 the gangway leading to the Queen Mary 2 collapsed killing 16 and injuring 32 during the family day at the yard.

This is the third fire on the ship so far.

These fires are all a result of arson. From a “translation” from Mer et Marine: “ The criminal origin of fire starts is no longer in doubt.”

The ship is still scheduled for her sea trials and delivery on the 15th.

Norwegian Epic Updates

Some Norwegian Epic news for you this morning. As she nears completion and her June 15 delivery date looms close by, STX has released a slew of new photos of her. I have been, and will be, compiling them on the Norwegian Epic page. This can be accessed by the tab at the top of the page.

I also added the track Norwegian Epic live! tab as well. I was able to embed the AIS info from Marinetraffic.com. Let me know what you think and if its working properly. You can keep track of her seatrials and inaugural schedule with the embedded schedule underneath the map.

Finally, speaking of the seatrials, rumor is that it will take place from June 11th-13th. STX France are cutting it close in terms of the delivery date. Remember that it was originally pushed back due to several fires and the engine issue.
