As you can see in the below post, Gene Sloan broke the story and now Seatrade Insider adds more fuel to the fire. According to unnamed industry sources, NCL has signed a letter of intent for 2 ships plus the option for one with Germany’s Meyer Werft. As previously stated, NCL and Meyer have a past working history so it makes sense that this yard is chosen. As Gene mentioned on Friday, the ships will be smaller than Epic.
A letter of intent is not a contract. It is simply a Line stating the desire to build and the yard gets a heads up to start clearing room in the orderbooks.
- Investment guru’s take note, according to the seatrade article:
During Norwegian Epic’s introduction earlier this summer, NCL ceo Kevin Sheehan said a newbuild would provide ‘sizzle on the steak’ for a potential IPO.
- Additional note, the “2 ships plus one option” was the same set up as the Epic and we only wound up with one.
