Princess Cruises have announced that they intend to sell their smallest ship the Ocean Princess. For now it seems her sister ship Pacific Princess will stay in the fleet. P&O Crusies’ Adonia is also rumored to be for sale as well. All three ships are the former Renaissance cruises fleetmates.
This could all change once the expansion of the Panama Canal is completed. Rumors out there suggest that once Ocean and Pacific are sold, their exotic voyages will be sailed by the Coral and Island Princess. The Coral and Island’s duties will be assumed by Grand class since they will be able to transit the canal.
If the Coral and Island rumors are true, that represents over a 200% increase in tonnage and a 138% increase in capacity. It would make more sense to sail the Sun Dawn and Sea on those routes.
