We are thrilled to announce an upcoming cruise aboard Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth, sailing to the breathtaking wilderness of Alaska.
The Last Frontier state is a bit of a rarity for Cunard so I couldn’t pass up the chance to both try out Cunard for the very first time and travel to Alaska for the very first time.
Cunard and the Majesty of Alaska
Cunard has been described as where timeless elegance meets modern amenities. This voyage will take us through some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes on Earth, offering a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure and of course photo opportunities.
Cunard Line, established in 1840 by Samuel Cunard, is one of the most storied names in maritime history. It’s also one of the very few remaining steam ship lines that remain. Renowned for its transatlantic service, Cunard’s legacy began with the paddle steamer RMS Britannia and continued with iconic vessels like the RMS Lusitania and RMS Mauretania, which set speed records in the early 20th century. The line’s reputation for elegance and luxury was further solidified by the legendary RMS Queen Mary and RMS Queen Elizabeth. Today, Cunard continues to epitomize maritime excellence with its modern fleet, including the Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Anne, each offering passengers a timeless ocean liner experience. I’m hoping to see this history on full display onboard.
Highlights of the Journey
I’m also hoping this journey becomes an experience of a lifetime. The 10 day cruise knocks out most ports and geographic wonders in the souther part of Alaska as well as two transits of the Inside Passage. Below are descriptions of most of the ports we are looking forward to experiencing.
- Glacier Bay National Park: Witness the colossal glaciers and pristine beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
- Juneau: Explore Alaska’s capital, rich in history and surrounded by majestic mountains and glaciers.
- Ketchikan: Known for its vibrant Native culture, scenic Misty Fjords, and rich history in the fishing and lumber industries.
- Skagway: Step back in time to the days of the Klondike Gold Rush, with historic sites and the iconic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway.
