Today on Twitter I live tweeted Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas arriving to her new home in Port Miami. The Oasis-class ship becomes the largest ship to have berthed in the Port. The 225,282gt ship will use the brand new Terminal A that just opened. Though her slightly larger sister, the 228,081gt Symphony of the Seas, will also be turning-around in Miami starting on November 09 so Allure’s title will be short-lived.
Here’s some photos of the event.
Earlier in the day, as the Empress of the Seas (Royal’s smallest ship) passed her much, much larger sister, they exchanged blasts on the ships whistle.
And here are my tweets as it was happening live.

Overhearing the chatter on the VHF, all the pilots are onboard the Allure and they’re trying to get a gangway out from the ship. #NorwegianGetaway can’t leave until her pilot can disembark Allure and run over to the Getaway.

The very empty #AllureoftheSeas has reached the turning basin. The pilots want to maneuver her for the first time without the pressure of other ships waiting to leave. pic.twitter.com/WrLL0iLis8

She’s still turning and has been in this position for a few minutes now. Never seen a ship turn this slow. pic.twitter.com/YKpLdtb666
