In the accompanying article, they explore the crunch that the lines are facing in the Caribbean this year. After rough summer seasons in Europe the past few years, due to the bad economies there, pretty much every line brought their ships to the Caribbean this summer. This has created a 19%-20% bump in Caribbean sailings this year. With so many berths, lines aren’t filling their ships up that much as competition is now fierce.
It’s a very good article to read and gets my highest recommendation.
Also mentioned is Carnival’s plan to develop Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. The $65 million project will see the constriction of a pier and 30 acres of waterfront property. I anticipate it to resemble the style of Grand Turk or Costa Maya.
