Believe it or not, Carnival Captain Giovanni Cutugno of the Carnival Magic, wants Jamaica to change their port for his ship.
"It would be very nice to have something done to make the port [Montego Bay] a little cleaner in certain corners and whatever can be done in the channels because with a wind that can reach 25 knots of gust, it is a challenge."
It may be difficult due to Jamaica hilly topography with gusts rolling down the hills to the port. My only concern is does it make the port unsafe? I wouldn’t think so but the quote does leave that question open. Then again captains get paid a lot of money (typically $300,000+ for 6 months work) to safely navigate megaships in and put of port. Oh and host parties too
