When Carnival Panorama, the third Vista-class ship, debuts in 2019, she will be homeported on the west coast. The 3,960pax Carnival Panorama will be deployed on 7-night Mexican Riviera cruises from the California port.
This announcement took place at the newly renovated Long Beach cruise terminal that just opened.
Carnival also announced that they will be inventing heavily in the port of Ensenada, Mexico. Ensenada is an important port on the west coast as it is just across the boarder between Mexico and California. This is a frequent stop for west coast itineraries that need to comply with the Passenger Vessel Services Act (i.e. adding a foreign port into US domestic itineraries).
