Once Carnival Panorama launches in 2019, all eyes will be on Carnival’s LNG powered newbuild set to take the water in 2020. The first in Carnival’s XL-class she will be based on Carnival Corp.’s Excellence-class (hence where CCL’s name ‘XL’ comes from.) You can preview the deckplans for AIDAnova and Costa Smeralda. These two ships will be Carnival Corp’s first in the Excellence-class.
I’ll go out on a limb here and say she will be called Carnival Reflection. In a presentation that leaked onto the internet recently, a Holland America executive was discussing the LNG as a fuel on Carnival Corp’s ships. Embedded in that was this early line drawing of the Reflection:
It certainly looks like it’s Reflection written on the bow. Some people have taken to social media and said it for certain. What does everyone think of the hull art and the superstructure art? Most likely that will be the glass on the balconies that will create that effect. Also it will be a blue stripe that runs down the hull at the top of the freeboard as opposed to a red one that’s currently fleetwide.
Note that there still is no official render out yet but I doubt it will deviate much. By now they must have the design finalized and can only make small changes to her.
