Tradewinds is reporting that the ship will be repaired in the Bahamas. If that’s the case, that means she has to sail from Alaska, down the west cost and Central America. Transit the Canal, then sail through the Caribbean to reach the Bahamas. All of this with out passengers.
When Celebrity originally canceled the 4 Alaska cruises, her first one back was going to be a 2 week long Panama Canal Cruise East bound (California- Florida). Since she will have to make that journey already without pax, it doesn’t make sense to then sail her back to the west coast. It’s a pretty safe bet that the September 22nd cruise will also be cancelled (If she is indeed going to the Grand Bahama Shipyard).
The USCG state that she has yet to file a sail plan so her destination is unknown. He AIS also hasn’t been updated.
UPDATE:
Destination | Freeport Bahamas |
ETA | 3 Sep 2013 1:00:00 UTC |
Her AIS confirms it. She’ll be repaired in Freeport, Bahamas at the Grand Bahamas Shipyard. Still no word on the fate of the Sept 22nd cruise.
