After a rocky start, Carnival Corp’s fathom brand is now officially underway. After an inaugural cruise to the Dominican Republic, fathom’s Adonia(ex- R Eight, Minerva II, Royal Princess) made quite to scene as the first american based cruise ship to sail to Cuba in over 50 years.
Media were quick to publicize this with NBC’s today show doing live reports from the ships arrival and CNBC interviewing Carnival CEO Arnold Donald onboard as well. Carnival is rightly making the most of this publicity.
Adonia will now sail alternating Dominican Republic and Cuban cruises for the foreseeable future.
Editors commentary: alot of news outlets are reporting this as the first cruise ship ever to call Cuba in over 50 years. Apparently these ships don’t exist.
