Interesting New Itineraries from Carnival

Carnival Cruise Lines, to me, is not know for a diversity of itineraries. Don’t get me wrong, they have 24 vessels operating from more ports in the US than any other line. However, most of those ships sail the same 2-3 itineraries all year long. Exceptions being the ships that sail East Coast, Alaska and Europe.

One of those ships that’s sailing to Europe is the Carnival Legend. The 88,500 GRT Vista class ship will be making her first trip across the pond.

Carnival just announced that in place of 5 European sailings in Fall 2013, she will be sailing some exotic itineraries:

  • 9/25 15-night transatlantic Dover – New York*
    • Dublin, Ireland; Glasgow (Greenock), Scotland; Belfast (Northern Ireland); Reykjavik, Iceland; Qaqortoq, Greenland; and St. John’s, Newfoundland.
  • 10/10 10-night Reposition Cruise New York – Tampa**
    • Grand Turk, Aruba, Curacao, Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman.
  • 10/21 5-night Caribbean Tampa – Tampa
    • Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
  • 10/26 8-night Caribbean Tampa – Tampa
    • Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize and Costa Maya.

*I wonder if Carnival would be offering a 25-night Dover – Tampa cruise. That would be quite a voyage.

**Interesting fact. According to the Passenger Vessels Services Act of 1886, a vessel boarding pax in a US port on the east coast a disembarking them in Florida, must call a South American port. Even more interesting, Aruba, or any of the ABC islands, count as that South American port.
