MSC Armonia is currently in two pieces as the new center piece is floated into place. The process is called Stretching a ship. She is split into two and then a new [usually 75-150ft long] midsection is welded together. NCL and Royal Caribbean were quite famous for it in the 90’s and early 2000’s.
In MSC’s case, the MSC Armonia is the first of the ship to get the Renaissance Program. This program will extend to all similar class ship and will bring them up to modern cruising standards in terms of amenities and decor.
The new maiden journey out of the shipyard will be on November 17th.
