UPDATE THURSDAY: Jim Walker posed some photos that were anonymou
sly sent to him on the Cruise Law Facebook Page.
It is being reported in several news outlets that when sailing into the Greek port of Piraeus, the MSC Magnifica, slightly touched the side of the breakwater. Damage is reported to be the minimal and she’s expected to sail to reach her next port on time. The cause was aparently due to strong crosswinds that cause the ship to slightly veer off course.
MSC Spokesperson quote via CruiseCritic UK:
The Captain and crew of MSC Magnifica acted quickly, and the ship was able to moor normally. MSC Magnifica is expected to leave Piraeus harbour at the end of the afternoon with only a slight delay on its timetable. The itinerary will remain unchanged and the ship will call in Katakolon tomorrow morning, as scheduled.
