While maneuvering into Manhattan’s west side piers, the Norwegian Breakaway became suck while in the Hudson River. Initial reports from the media say that the ship was aground when a thruster failed. This part of the Hudson has a soft/muddy bottom. Here’s the route she took via MarineTraffic. It’s pretty clear the ship was having some propulsion problems as she neared the terminal. It’s quite uncommon to see the ships sail past the terminals, and go that far north and then come back down.
NCL Just tweeted out:
To guests sailing on #NorwegianBreakaway today, please delay your arrival to the port until after 2 pm. The ship’s departure is now at 5 pm.

Since NCL’s is planning on departing today, its clear this is a minor issue with little to no damage to the vessel. Also @BreakingNews picked up on it. Not entirely sure how this is BreakingNews worthy but…..
