Princess Cruises and Carnival Corp. today announced a memorandum of agreement (MOU) with Italian yard Fincantieri to build two new cruise ships on a ‘next-generation platform.’ The newbuilds will be delivered in late 2023 and spring 2025, respectively.
I’m unsure if this ‘next-gen platform’ is Carnival Corp’s Excellence-class. These are the 5,200pax 183,900gt ships that are based on a new design and powered LNG. AIDA, Costa, P&O and Carnival are all getting these classes.
Princess’ most recent newbuild, Sky Princess, is still currently under construction and scheduled for delivery in October 2019. An additional two Royal-class ships are planned for delivery in 2020 and 2022.
