Quark Expeditions, who were one of the first companies to regularly sail passengers to the arctic and Antarctica regions, have announced they will build their own ship. Up until now they have chartering Russian icebreakers or ice classed vessels managed by someone else. Now they will build and own their very own. The announcement is scarce on the actual dimensions. All that’s known at this point is that she will be build in Croatia’s Brodosplit yard and be ready in 2020.
The ship will be able to handle 40-day expeditions. She will be able to handle two helicopters and rabidly deploy zodiacs for going ashore.
