Queen Elizabeth Delivered and Christened

Today we saw the introduction of a new Queen. The Queen Elizabeth was christened by Her Majesty The Queen today in Southampton. The 1,600 invited guests saw the white wine bottle break against the ships hull on the first try. The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus were on hand to provide the atmosphere throughout the ceremony.

In typical fashion The Queen made a bridge visit, chatted up the officers, and blasted the ships whistle. She is also the first to sign the ships log book.

This is the queens fourth ship christening. That makes her the godmother of this ship, the QM2, QE2, and the Caronia in 1947.

Odd note, rumor was Cunard told crew to avoid the outside decks and balconies on the pier side security reasons.

Photos after the break.
