Royal Caribbean just received City and port approval to build a new $70 million terminal in Bayonne. No doubt this is to accommodate the new Quantum of the Seas when she’s homeported there next year.
Royal Caribbean is said to be footing the entire bill for the project. It includes a 36,000-square-foot check-in terminal, a 60,000-square-foot luggage area, a parking deck, additional parking and berth improvements. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and be completed by October 2014. Quantum then arrives shortly thereafter in November.
