Sources have told Cruise Industry News that the S.S. United States Conservancy purchased the historic liner, S.S. United States, for a reported $3 million. This pretty much is saving it from being scrapped. They have 20 months until the lease on the current berth runs up. The ideal plans are to renovate the ship and a local waterfront area and make it into a waterfront development. If Philly isn’t an option, they would look to go to New York, or Miami.
