A rather tense turnaround day for Royal Caribbean in New Orleans yesterday. While traveling up the Mississippi River yesterday morning, the 90,090gt Serenade of the Seas experienced ‘navigational issues,’ then a burst pipe led to flooding of several cabins and a loss of electricity to certain facilities. After cleanup and repairs were made, there was still residual damage to some cabins. Thusly, an unverified number of pax were told they couldn’t sail since their cabins wouldn’t be ready for quite some time. The number of unlucky passengers ranges between 200-500.
The ship then had to wait for US Coast Guard clearance to sail. She finally departed today around midday.
