As the year winds down and we reflect on the voyages, experiences, and ships everyone’s been on, it’s time for us to attempt to come up with a “Best of ” list.
Of course, any ranking like this is inherently subjective. What resonates with one traveler may not land the same way with another, and that’s part of the fun. These picks are based on personal experiences, community feedback, and a healthy dose of spirited debate. In some cases, it’s virtually impossible to crown a definitive winner—how do you choose between two equally spectacular meals in different restaurants or competing cabins when one is an inside and the other is a wrap-around balcony or even a suite!?
Still, our rankings attempt to reflect the moments and offerings that captured our attention and left a lasting impression. Join us as we dive into the best of CruiseInd for this year!
Best Buffet Celebrity
The Oceanview Cafe aboard Celebrity Cruises stands out due simply to the consistent variety and layout that we’ve experience. Frequently featuring an always changing menu of international cuisines (shout out to their daily Indian cuisine and English breakfast offerings) we’ve never been let down. There’s also a great outdoor area aft of the Oceanview that you can take your meal out to for alfresco dining. It’s one of our cherished highlights of a Celebrity Cruises.
Best Drinks Princess
As a sucker for Martini’s you’d think out pick would be Celebrity since they have a dedicated Martini bar or perhaps NCL since they have the Skyy® Vodka Ice Bar. But our pick goes to Princess. They feature a perfect Vesper as well as a few different types of 007 inspired martinis. There’s also even the secret off the menu martini for Captains Circle members, their frequent guest program but really anyone can order it. (That’ll just be our secret.)
Best Onboard Venue Central Park
Is there any venue onboard a ships that’s as breath taking and astonishing as the central park that’s onboard the Oasis-class and the Icon-class of ships? The Central Park concept, introduced on the Oasis of the Seas in 2009, allows guests to escape into nature while at sea, surrounded by the soothing sounds of birdsong and the rustle of leaves. Strolling through Central Park, passengers encounter a selection of specialty restaurants, boutiques, and cozy bars, creating an alfresco ambiance.
Best Cabins NCL
Norwegian Cruise Line offers a wide range of cabin categories designed to suit every traveler, from cozy inside staterooms (including solo studio cabins) to expansive, three bedroom suites. At the pinnacle of luxury is The Haven, an exclusive enclave featuring spacious suites, private amenities, and personalized service, creating a retreat within the ship. For those seeking even more opulence, the Jewel-class Garden Villas stand out with their three-bedroom layouts, private terraces, and stunning panoramic views. The Star-class (Norwegian Star and Norwegian Dawn) debuted the Garden Villas offering some of the most spacious accommodations at sea measuring 6,694 sqft. (621 sqm.), complete with their own hot tubs and secluded outdoor spaces. No matter your choice, NCL ensures comfort and style across all categories.
Best Food Over All Celebrity
Overall we were impressed by the quality of the food in the main dining room on our Celebrity Cruises. From the seafood, to the steaks, to lobster tail that’s still offered, everything was expertly presented and flavored exceptionally well. We were also impressed by the bread selection and rotating butter that’s offered each evening.
Best Alternate Restaurants NCL
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is renowned for its diverse array of alternate dining options, catering to every palate and mood. From the sophisticated French cuisine at Le Bistro to the sizzling teppanyaki grills of their Japanese steakhouse, NCL offers a global culinary journey. Guests can savor premium steaks at Cagney’s, indulge in authentic Italian dishes at Onda by Scarpetta, or enjoy casual favorites like fresh seafood at Ocean Blue. With their Freestyle Dining concept, NCL ensures flexibility and variety, making every meal an opportunity to explore a different flavor profile or atmosphere.
Best Specific Cabin Mini-Suite on Princess
No this is not a repeat. I want to have a specific category for an individual category of cabin or even a particular cabin in general. The mini suites on Princess stand out in this case. The separate bedroom, living room, walk-in closet space, and bathroom with tub are what sets it apart. Of course a massive suite, such as the Regent Suite on Seven Seas Grandeur, or the Garden Villas mentioned above could logically take this category. However we thought this would be more fitting to make this be a cabins that many people could realistically cruise in.
Best Pizza Carnival
Carnival Cruise Lines culinary experience is perhaps most epitomized by its celebration of Italy. All their ships have always had Italian officers so it’s no wonder that they have the best pizza on the high seas. From our experience, most pizzas at the poolside Pizza Pirate or Pizzeria del Capitano on newer ships, have been fresh and made to order. There’s also always a decent menu to order from with a nice variety.
Best Shows NCL
Norwegian Cruise Line sets the stage for world-class entertainment with a variety of options that cater to every taste. Guests can enjoy dazzling Broadway-caliber productions like Six, Jersey Boys, and Footloose, bringing the magic of the theater to the high seas. Beyond the marquee shows, NCL offers live music, comedy acts, themed parties, and interactive experiences that keep the energy alive day and night. With such a diverse lineup, every evening on board promises unforgettable performances and lively entertainment for all.
Best Hamburger Carnival
Carnival Cruise Lines partnered with Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri to create their signature pool-side hamburger stand. You’re free to load it up with all the fixings and toppings to your hearts desire. A lot of attention was also paid to the specific mix and ground of the beef used and it shows. While onboard, I’ve never seen anyone say a bad thing other than the huge line that’s there at peak hours since it’s such a hit. He’s since gone on to create a BBQ restaurant onboard most ships that’s excellent.

Well this is an impossible topic to rank. That’s as far as this topic will go.
