American Cruise Lines announced today that the first of its four-ship order will be deployed to the Mississippi River. She’ll join fleetmate Queen of the Mississippi. The yet unnamed ship will be launched in March 2015. She will be a very similar layout to the Queen of the Mississippi and carry 150 pax.
The second newbuild will sail from the shipyard in Maryland, over to the west coast for her deployment. She’ll sail on Columbia and Snake Rivers where she’ll join her fleetmate the Queen of the West. It was also announced that the second ship will be slightly larger than the first one and carry 175 pax. She’ll debut late 2015.
I’ve updated our Shipyard Order Book Page.
Timothy Beebe, Vice President of American Cruise Lines:
Demand on the Mississippi is high, and the Columbia River has not seen a new riverboat in many years. The new riverboats will offer the finest experience available in these regions, while maintaining the historic feel and authenticity of historic American river cruising.
